Week 7 Peer Review

Lauren Angulo

You and I both cited many of the same quotes from Tannen’s writing in our posting. Reading your perspective on some of the exact same quotes that I had used myself was very interesting. I thought that you did a great job of relating your posting to your own personal experience. You were able to take the information from the reading and relate it to your own relationship with your boyfriend. I noticed that your citations were not in the correct form that Professor Patel had asked for. I see that they were correct in previous weeks though, so maybe you were just rushed to post? Anyways, thought that I’d make a note for you and also mention that you might want to just skim through for typos before posting. I myself am often rushed to finish an assignment and don’t carefully look over my work, so I understand that silly mistakes happen.

I really enjoyed the ending of your posting, Preservation of Monogamous Relationships, where you said “but for this key component of human experience- love.” I thought that that was a very strong was to present your opinion as well as end your piece. Overall I thought that your post was very interesting and that you did a great job of incorporating information from the reading in your writing. I would suggest splitting up the first paragraph into two or more paragraphs (I got a little lost while reading it through the first time). I usually try to have a three paragraph intro, body, conclusion for all of my postings. That helps me to concentrate my ideas a little better once I get typing away on a tangent : )

I always enjoy seeing what image(s) you’ll include with each of your postings. The only for your “He Said, She Said” was perfect! I thought that you did a very good job of blending the information from the text with your personal experiences in this piece. The only advice for revision with this piece would be to possibly look at the paragraph structure. You had some really great information as well as personal stories throughout your posting. Maybe if you separated some of the ideas/stories into several short(er) paragraphs each idea could or would make powerful impact on its own? Fun piece to read!

Wow! I was really impressed by your “Till Death Do Us Part” response! I too referenced traditional marriage vows in my posting. I think that those vows are interesting to “pick apart” and read. How many couples take them literally? They stand before all of their closes friends, family and sometimes God to make those promises to one another, yet it seems that they’re taken all too casually once they step off of the alter. You did a great job of making strong statements and staying on topic throughout this piece. I think that this would definitely be a subject that you would do well expanding on for future writing.
